Q: What is the application process?
A: Our application process is simple and straight forward.  Follow these procedures to secure the right house for you:

1. 1. Find a house(s) that you might be interested in via the availability listing.
   2. Drive by the property(s) to familiarize yourself with the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
   3. Call our office to set up an appointment with and agent.  We DO NOT hand out keys! Same day showings are not normally possible.  Please call in advance so we can accommodate your schedule.
   4. Submit a rental application at our office.  The application fee is $40 per applicant or co-signer.  It normally takes 2-3 days to process the application. In order to qualify for a property we need to see at least 3x the monthly rent in gross verifiable income.
      
   5. Once you have been approved, we will set up an appointment for you to come in and sign leases then set a date to pick up keys and move in!

Q: Is there a deposit required?
A: Yes, we require a security deposit equal to one month’s rent.

Q: Are pets allowed at your properties?
A: Unless the listing specifically says “NO PETS,” you can assume pets are negotiable with an additional pet deposit (typically between $100-300 depending on type / size of pet). The only exceptions are we don’t allow aggressive breeds such as Pitbulls and Rottweilers or puppies.

Q: Do you accept Section 8 vouchers?
A: No, Rent-A-Home does not accept Section 8 vouchers as a form of payment.

Q: Can I pick up keys to see the inside of the property?
A: We do showings of our properties by appointment only. You can set an appointment to view a property by giving us a call at (336) 272-0767. The showings run Mon-Friday 9:30am – 5:00pm, and Saturdays from 10:30am – 2:00pm.

Q: When should I start looking for a property?
A: We advise people to start looking about 30 days prior to needing the property unless you are willing and able to take possession and start paying rent before you plan on moving. We typically do not hold properties longer than approximately 2 weeks even with deposit.
